Neil Gaiman Not Finishing 'The Winds Of Winter' For George R.R. Martin, 'American Gods' Author Confirms 'Neverwhere 2'

Fans have several reasons to worry about "The Winds of Winter" actually being completed before the end of the century. After all, George R.R. Martin is known for his slow writing pace, causing concerns that millenials will be in their 80s by the time he finishes the sixth "A Song of Ice and Fire" novel. So is it possible that the author will be getting any help from Neil Gaiman? The "American Gods" writer has spoken up on the speculations and also confirmed that "Neverwhere 2" is in the works.

Neil Gaiman has been a huge supporter of George R.R. Martin right from the start. The "American Gods" author had famously defended his friend from people who keep urging Martin to write faster by stating the writer "is not your b-tch." So is there any possibility that Gaiman will help the "ASOIAF" scribe in completing "The Winds of Winter"? Unfortunately, it looks like the "Sandman" creator already has his hands full with several projects including "Neverwhere 2".

In an interview with Vanity Fair, Neil Gaiman expressed interest in coming up with a sequel to "American Gods" but admitted there is another novel that needs to be completed as soon as possible. "I'm writing 'Neverwhere 2' while juggling an awful lot of balls and spinning an awful lot of plates," Gaiman shared. Could one of these projects possibly be "The Winds of Winter"? It sounds like Gaiman believes George R.R. Martin can finish the "ASOIAF" book on his own, even if it takes another decade (hopefully, it won't).

But is George R.R. Martin any closer to completing "The Winds of Winter"? CeleBeat has previously reported that the author might add another chapter in Jon Snow's point of view, detailing his death and resurrection. There are still no updates on the release date of the "ASOIAF" novel. Make it a habit to check CeleBeat for all the latest updates on highly anticipated books.
