Beyonce Reveals True Meaning Behind Blue Ivy's Name In A Poem

A lot of thought goes into picking a name out when expecting a baby and the same goes for celebrities. Although celebrities sometimes pick names that many other people wouldn't, most of the time there is still a lot of thought that goes into it. When Beyonce and Jay-Z named their baby girl Blue Ivy, some speculated on why they chose the moniker.

There was a lot of guessing going on and the new parents were mum. Some people speculated that it was because it had four letters, or that it was the fourth color on the color wheel or because it was Jay-Z's favorite color. Some even speculated that it was because of Jay-Z's "Blueprint" albums. If he was to release another "Blueprint" album it would be the fourth one and Ivy is very similar to IV, the roman numeral for four.

However, Beyonce revealed the meaning behind Blue Ivy's name in a poem on her website over the weekend and it seems to be a lot deeper than what people speculated.

Four is a very significant number in Jay-Z and Beyonce's life. They were both born on the fourth, her mother and sister have birthdays on the fourth and they were married on April 4, 2008.
