'Xena Warrior Princess' In Trouble, Lucy Lawless Pleads Guilty To Trespassing

Leading a band of outlaws, Xena, warrior princess commandeered a ship to pillage precious oil. Alright, that's not what went down (at all), but former "Xena" actress did plead guilty on Thursday for trespassing.

Back in February, the actress and seven other Greenpeace New Zealand activists jumped on board an oil-drilling ship to stop it from leaving the port, reported People.com.  Lawless, 44, and the other activists were trespassing on the ship headed towards the Atlantic as an act to protest against global warming.

After boarding the ship for 77 hours, the actress and the seven other activists were arrested on February 27.

The actress had initially faced charges of burglary, but those charges have since been dropped. According to E! Online, Lawless may face up to three years in jail for pleading guilty to trespassing.

Lucy Lawless has a bright outlook on her impending sentencing in September. "I had to do what I had to do," she told the New Zealand Herald. Because this is her first offense, as well as peaceful protest, Lawless doesn't believe jail time is in her future.

"We want to tell [deep-sea oil drillers] absolutely under no circumstances is this a good idea. They are robbing our children of their birthright to a clean and healthy planet, and they know it," The New Zealand Herald reports the actress said. "I think we've helped kick off a great movement."

Greenpeace is the largest independent direct-action environmental organization in the world. The organization has campaigned for over 40 years to help save oceans, whales and seafood, stop global warming, protect forests, push for no new nukes, eliminate toxic chemicals and promote sustainable agriculture.
