'Game Of Thrones' Producers Apologize For Beheading George W. Bush Prop Head

This may have not been the best prop to use.

In a scene from HBO's hit show Game of Thrones, producers used a prop head for a beheading scene that looked awfully like former President George W. Bush, but it seems it was all a mistake.

"We were deeply dismayed to see this and find it unacceptable, disrespectful and in very bad taste," HBO said in a statement. "We made this clear to the executive producers of the series who apologized immediately for this inadvertent careless mistake. We are sorry this happened and will have it removed from any future DVD production."

Producers explained that for the show they use props that are rented in bulk to save on costs. One of the head props that were rented struck a keen resemblance to the former president. The show's creators said that they were not trying to make a political statement at all.

"We use a lot of prosthetic body parts on the show: heads, arms, etc.," David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the show's producers said. We can't afford to have these all made from scratch, especially in scenes where we need a lot of them, so we rent them in bulk."

"After the scene was already shot, someone pointed out that one of the heads looked like George W. Bush," they continued. "In the DVD commentary, we mentioned this, though we should not have. We meant no disrespect to the former president and apologize if anything we said or did suggested otherwise."

The head was used for the scene where King Joffrey takes Sansa Stark to look at the head of her dead father, Ned Stark.
