Angelina Jolie is going to be Disney's newest villain. It was announced a couple months ago that the actress had been cast as the title role in Disney's "Maleficent," and pictures are now circulating.

With blood red lips, severe cheek bones and striking yellow-green eyes, Angelina looks the part of the horned sorceress from "Sleeping Beauty."

"Maleficent" is being called "the untold story of Disney's most beloved villain." Maleficent was featured in the 1959 classic 'Sleeping Beauty.'" Fans of the 1959 cartoon will finally learn the events that hardened the dark witches heart and "drove her to curse the baby, Aurora."

Walt Disney Studios announced in a press release that production for "Maleficent" began on June 13. Starring alongside Academy Award winner Angelina Jolie will be "District 9's" Sharlto Copley, "Super 8's" Elle Fanning, "On The Road's" Sam Riley, "Very Drake's" Imelda Staunton, "The Hours'" Miranda Richardon, "Atonement's" June Temple and "Secrets & Lies" Lesley Manville.

The film also has some heavy hitters behind the scenes. Originally having Tim Burton attached, "Maleficent" is being directed by Robert Stromberg, the two-time Oscar winning production designer for "Avatar" and "Alice in Wonderland." The film is being written by Linda Woolverton, who has also been behind Disney classics "The Lion King " and "Beauty and the Beast."

Besides acting Angeline Jolie will also stand as an executive producer next to Don Hahn, Matt Smith and Palak Patel.

Angelina hasn't stepped in front of the camera in two years, and her children are very excited about the latest role. The actress revealed to the Hollywood Reporter back in December that her kids had begun calling her "mom-elicent."

"The best thing to find that balance is to do something that is just for the children," Angelina had said at the Berlin International Film Festival in February. "You know, you find different ways to make things matter. When for example, you do fun action movies, they are empowering for my daughters."

"Maleficent" is scheduled to hit theaters in 3D on March 14, 2014.
