Matthew Perry Looks Healthy, Flashes Big Grin at LAX

Many fans were concerned when Matthew Perry started to lose weight drastically during the late 1990s but the star appears healthier and happier.

The 44-year-old actor was seen walking through LAX with a fuller physique and wearing a big grin on his face last Sunday, August 18. He wore a green T-shirt under a plaid button-down, black pants and sunglasses.

On other Hollywood actors, this healthier physique might be bad news but not for the Friends star. He has mentioned that he was at his skinniest when he was abusing drugs and alcohol. In fact in 2000, he was brought to the hospital suffering from pancreatitis due to his substance and alcohol abuse. During this time, the actor even lost an additional 20 pounds.

"It was hard living and drinking hard and eating poorly," he told Us Weekly at the time. "You play, you pay."

In May, Perry admitted in an interview with ABC News that he can't look at pictures at that period of his life. "I honestly recoil," he said. "It's scary to look at that. I was a sick guy."

He is leading a healthier lifestyle today. He was also very grateful to addiction specialist Earl Hightower.

"This guy has saved my life, literally 15, 16 times," Perry acknowledged. "The treatment is all-encompassing."
