Miley Cyrus has acknowledged that she is an adult acting like a kid in the October edition of Harper's Bazaar, Us Weekly reported Monday.

The 20-year-old lamented over her childhood where she was a star when her peers were in school.  She became the face of Disney's Hannah Montana. It is a persona that she carried throughout her teen years and Cyrus said it was to her detriment.

"I was an adult when I was supposed to be a kid," Cyrus said. "So now I'm an adult and I'm acting like a kid."

Although Cyrus spoke of the difficulties involved in growing up in the limelight, she said there were benefits. Her dad is country crooner Billy Ray Cyrus. She never had to worry about money growing up as the daughter of the Achy Breaky Heart singer before amassing her own million dollar empire.

"My parents always had money, and I've always been around this industry, so I didn't have my mind blown or become obsessed with being famous," she said.

The Wrecking Ball singer said she did not concern herself with any backlash. She has been the center of controversy since her VMA performance in August. She gyrated against Robin Thicke and made lewd gestures with a foam finger.

"I'm someone who cares about the real things in life," she said. "There are things that are personal that stress me out, but my career? That doesn't affect me. I know what I'm supposed to be doing. I'm not scared of anything."
