Jon Gosselin has defended shooting a warning shot at a paparrazo last weekend and what the status of his relationship with ex-wife Kate Gosselin now is, Hollywood Life reported.

Jon appeared on The View Thursday. He explained why he took the actions that he did. A female photographer apparently followed the former reality TV home in Pennsylvania on September 21. She started taking pictures of Jon while he was at his home in the woods.  Jon then pulled a gun on the photographer and fired away and yelled at her for trespassing.

"There's a lot of misconceptions about me," Jon said. "One misconception is that I made millions on reality TV."

Jon said that he placed a bulk of the money he earned while appearing on Jon and Kate Plus 8 in a trust for his children.  He explained that he returned to a normal existence since the height of reality TV fame.

"I had a normal life before television, during television, and now," Jon said.

Jon is now waiting tables at a restaurant in Pennsylvania. He said that he and Kate communicate only through text and email. Last month, Kate filed a lawsuit against her ex-husband and father of her children in relation to the book Kate Gosselin: How She Fooled the World. In the legal filing, Kate claimed that the father of her eight children provided material to a third party for the unflattering tome. The person in question was Robert Hoffman, a friend of Jon's. Hoffman has since taken the book off Amazon after Kate made the initial claims that the material was obtained illegally.
