Nina Dobrev and Derek Hough Break Up After Dating for 6 Weeks

After only six weeks of dating, Derek Hough and Nina Dobrev have called it quits, sources revealed to Us Weekly.

The Vampire Diaries actress and the  Dancing With the Stars pro decided that the relationship had "played itself out," the sourced revealed to Us Weekly. The insider told E! Online that the breakup was a mutual decision and that there was no drama.

It would seem that the long distance between them was a factor in the breakup a source revealed."The distance was too much to handle," a close friend of the two said. The 28-year-old Hough is filming DWTS in Los Angeles while 24-year-old Dobrev is filming The Vampire Diaries in Atlanta, Georgia.

However, according to Perez Hilton, the breakup is perhaps caused by Dobrev helping her ex-boyfriend's dog. 

The two met through Julliane Hough, Dobrev's best friend and Derek's sister. "[Nina] was hanging a lot with Derek's sister Julianne," a source told Us Weekly. "Then she fell for him."

But the feelings weren't one-sided as Derek fell for her as well. "Derek is smitten with Nina," the insider added. "He said he hasn't felt this way for a girl in a long time...Everyone approves!"

Even though this is the end of their relationship, Dobrev's friendship with Julianne is still going strong. "Julianne understands -- there are no hard feelings," another source told Us Weekly.
