'Young and the Restless' News: David Tom Returns as Billy Abbott, Billy Miller Leaves

David Tom is returning to the role of Billy Abbott, Soap Opera Digest reported Monday.

Tom will be replacing two time Emmy Winner Billy Miller who has decided to vacate the popular role. Miller has played the role since 2008 and was in the middle of contract negotiations. The show asked other actors, including Tom, to audition for the role. Tom played the role from 1999 to 2002. He won an Emmy for his efforts.

Tom is the younger brother of Heather Tom who famously played the character of Victoria Newman. She won multiple Emmy's for the role. Currently, the role is being played by Amelia Heinle. The charater's of Billy and Victoria are married on screen with children.

Angelica McDaniel, head of CBS Daytime, addressed the casting decision on Twitter. She wished Miller well and asked fans to welcome back Tom to the Y&R family.
