Fergie and her husband, Josh Duhamel, are writing songs for their three month old son, Axl Jack, PEOPLE reported Wednesday.

Fergie shared with the publication how the birth of her son has inspired her. He is now her muse.

"The songs that are written [lately are] little ditties and Josh and I sing them to our child," the new mom, 38, said. "They're quite funny ... we're like that couple on Best In Show who sing to their pets about their pets ... that's how these songs are."

Fergie is launching Unilever Project Sunlight campaign on Universal Children's Day. It will provide such basic needs as hygiene education and food. She was going to celebrate with her newborn. She said he was very responsive to all the songs he has heard.

"He is very responsive to the songs," she said. "He starts kicking and he's smiling, and he tries to make noise and sing along. It's amazing. He loves our songs!"

Fergie added that she is learning how to have balance in her life now that she is a mother.  She has been handling a lot of her responsibilities from home such as her fragrance line and wine business.

"I schedule time like I normally do to do emails and take meetings," she said. "[But] if he's awake and he's got that smile on his face and he's ready to learn, my emails go out the window."
