Katie Couric will be leaving ABC, The Huffington Post reported Friday.

The network confirmed that the former TODAY show would leave the network earlier than planned. Couric will be forming a partnership with Yahoo.  The full details were not immediately available but a source close to ABC said that Couric felt she could not pass it up.

"Thanks to the powerful association between ABC News and Yahoo we know that Katie will continue to work closely with us and welcome her on our air anytime," a source told TV Newser.

The fate of Couric's syndicated talk show, Katie, is undecided. However, previous sources have stated that the talk show would not continue its run on ABC Disney.  In August, sources told The Hollywood Reporter that the two year old talk show could be canceled. The fledging chat fest has been plagued by soft ratings, a large budget and internal fighting. Stations are contracted to air Katie through the summer of 2014 but renewal for a third season by Disney/ABCTV seemed unlikely.

The show originally had a budget of $50 million which has been brought down to $35. However, many stations have complained that there has not been enough investment on the hype.
