Kerry Washington recently filmed her first Neutrogena ad. She also revealed some of her skin care secrets as well as her number one no-no.

"I've always been really focused on the health of my skin. It's not always about covering up flaws but taking good care of your skin. So I never go to sleep with makeup on," she shared to E! News. "I'm very, very, very specific and strict about that. So I use the Neutrogena wipes and they get everything. That really helps me know that when I go to bed I'm not taking all that makeup I've been wearing all day at work to bed with me so my skin can breath."

How about you? Do you always take your make-up before bed?  In a recent survey, 1/3 of the participants confessed that at least twice a week, they would accidentally sleep with makeup on their face, Mail Online reported.

Here are three reasons why sleeping with make-up on is bad for your skin:

  • Skin cannot secrete sebum. Sebum helps moisturize and protect the skin. Lack of sebum can cause acne
  • If you want to wake up without pimples then remove your make-up before you sleep
  • Leaving eye make-up on can cause irritation or eye infection
