'Fast and Furious' Gal Gadot as the New Wonder Woman: Too Thin to Play the Role?

Fast & Furious actress Gal Gadot has been cast to play Wonder Woman in the upcoming film Batman Vs Superman film.

There were rumors about whether Wonder Woman but Warner Bros. confirmed that Wonder Woman will appear in the film and that the role will be played by Gadot. The former Miss Israel will play the iconic role together with Ben Affleck's Batman and Henry Cavill's Superman.  There will also be several members of the Justice League that will join her in the film, Variety reported.

Netizens reacted to the casting announcement as the fans said that Gadot is too thin to play the role of Wonder Woman. Other fans were wondering who is Gadot in the first place. Here are some of the things you need to know about Gadot:

  • Gadot plays Gisele Yashar in three of the Fast & Furiousmovies.
  • She has also appeared in the films Date Night and Knight and Day
  • She was named Miss Israle in 2004 and competed in the Miss Universe
  • The actress completed her two years of required service in the Israeli military

Director Zack Snyder said the actress had a "magical quality" that makes her perfect for the role.  "Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favourite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, but she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role," he said.

"We look forward to audiences discovering Gal in the first feature film incarnation of this beloved character."

Gadot also tweeted about her excitement over the casting: "Wonder Women! So exciting!!! Can't express how happy I am :))))"

Lynda Carter played in the 1970s US TV series Wonder Woman tweeted her support to Gadot: "Congratulations to Gal Gadot!"

Batman vs Superman is due for release on July 2015.
