James Van Der Beek loves being a father but thinks that having three children will be "trickier."  The actor revealed his thoughts on being a father for the third time to People at the Television Critics Association press tour Monday, Jan. 13.

The 36-year-old actor is parent to two children with his wife Kimberly and they are currently set to welcome the new addition to the family. He is happy to have another child but he confessed that life is already difficult to manage with 3-year-old Olivia and 22-month-old Joshua.

"There are moments where we will be dealing with the two, it will be a handful and I'll think, 'Well, this is about to get even trickier,'" the actor told the publication.

He also revealed that he loves his family and that domestic life keeps him grounded.

"The kids are the best home base you could possibly have," he said.

"It tethers you to reality. I can go to work and just go as far out as I can get and I know that by the time I come home, I'll be brought right back to earth."

He also shared his thoughts about landing the role of teenager Dawson Leery in Dawson's Creek. At first, the producers were not sure about casting him.

"I was 20 and I thought I was way too old," he told The TV Page.

"They flew me out to L.A. and sat me on a plane next to the guy I was testing against, which was awkward because I knew him. 'That guy' was Adrian Grenier, who, at the time only had one acting credit to his name.

"He was testing for both Dawson and Pacey, but he went home empty handed. Poor guy. I think he is okay now."

Many fans also wanted a reunion of the whole cast but it seemed that even creator Kevin Williamson is against the idea.

"It's so flattering for everybody that everyone cares about work we did 15 years ago, so nobody wants to insult the fans," James explained to In Touch.

"But the truth is, it's not in the works. I don't mean to break the news! I think everyone is kind of happy with where they're at."

He adds, "I don't think the fans would really want it. I don't think there's a way to make it work creatively - especially if Kevin says it's never happening, it's never happening."
