Lindsey Vonn was forced to pull out of the 2014 Olymplic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia after suffering a knee injury in Nov. 13, and while Vonn is disappointed that she can't take part in the competition, Vonn says the support of her mom and boyfriend has helped her stay strong.

"It's hard. I just want to be there but I can't," Vonn admitted in a Feb. 5 interview.

Vonn was looking forward to Sochi for months, but after injuring her knee for a second time and opting for surgery, taking to the slopes was out of the question. However, despite the heartbreaking circumstance, Vonn's mom, Lindy Lund, has been by her side, making sure that Vonn stays positive and looks to the future.

"My mom had a stroke when she had me. She's never been able to ski with me. Her support has always meant a lot. Her toughness and positivity have always helped me get through challenges, especially with my injuries," Vonn explained. "She always sees the positives in everything. She always says, 'There's always tomorrow. There's always another race.' When you say it like that, it sounds really simple. It's not that simple. But she makes me feel like it's possible."

Also by Vonn's side has been her boyfriend of over one year, golfer Tiger Woods.

After first being linked in Jan. 2013, Vonn and Woods announced on March 18, 2013 that they were officially dating. At the time, Vonn told press their relationship had evolved from a friendship into something more in the months prior. Woods echoed the same sentiment, adding that they had "become very close."

"He just reminds me to be patient, that everything is going to be fine," Vonn said of Woods' support. "I really appreciate all the support he has given me. It makes a big difference."
