Jimmy Kimmel and his wife Molly McNearney are expecting their first child together.

During a recent taping of The Ellen Degeneres Show, Kimmel announced the exciting news.

"I'm having a baby!" he revealed. "I decided to have the first one with my wife. We got married in July."

Kimmel and McNearney, who is a co-head writer on Jimmy Kimmel Live, began dating in 2009, and became engaged during a safari in Africa three years later.

Kimmel also has two other children, Kevin, 20, and Katie, 22, from his first marriage to Gina Kimmel, whom he married in 1988 and separated from in 2002. Following his marriage, Kimmel dated fellow comedian Sarah Silverman for seven years, but the pair did not have any children.

"I don't know where they are, but I hear they are doing great," Kimmel said of his two older children. "I told my daughter, 'Listen, there's only so much love I have to give - you're gonna have to split it up with the new kid. There's a finite amount of love and that's that.' So they're dealith with it, but it is very weird, you know, at my age. I'm going to be one of those old dads."

The 46-year-old talk show host and his new wife haven't yet found out the sex of the baby, and Kimmel hopes that they can leave it a surprise. Unfortunately, McNearney may not be on board.

"I would like it to be a surprise and my wife was happy with that idea until abut a week ago," he explained. "She started saying, 'We really need to find out.' But I don't think it matters. You don't need to make the baby's room blue or pink - it's inherently ridiculous. I don't think they can even see colors."

Kimmel and McNearney's child is due in late 2014.
