Tamera Mowry Says She Grew Up Knowing She'd Marry A Black Man Prior To Marrying Adam Housley

Tamera Mowry opened up about her interracial marriage in Ebony Magazine.

Nearly three years after marrying FOX News correspondent Adam Housley, Mowry is admitting that she didn't necessarily see herself married to a white man in her younger years.

"Honestly, growing up, I [just] knew I was going to marry a Black man," Mowry told the magazine for their May 2014 issue. "But, as I grew up, I learned to just be open. I just wanted to be with someone who was confident around me and who I felt comfortable being myself with."

Mowry, whose father is Caucasian and mother is of Afro-Bahamian descent, met and began dating Housley in 2005. On May 15, 2011, after six years of dating, the couple tied the knot in Napa Valley, Calif. One year later, they welcomed son Aden, born Nov. 12, 2012.

Mowry's comments to Ebony Magazine about her interracial relationship mark the second time the couple has addressed the issue publicly. In Jan. 2014, after his marriage to Mowry was targeted with racial remarks, Housley spoke out in defense of their relationship, saying that the "backwards, bigoted" people of the world are the real problem.

"The fact that in this day and age, we get attacked for our interracial relationship is beyond sad...it is pathetic," he told TV Newser. "Yes, I am white. Yes, she is half-black. Marrying a white man does not erase her color and marrying a woman who is half-black does not mean I am blinded."
