Katie Cleary's Husband's Suicide: Was Model's Relationships With Leonardo DiCaprio And Adrian Grenier To Blame?

Katie Cleary’s husband recent committed suicide, and according to some reports, she’s the one to blame.

Earlier this week, Cleary’s husband, Andrew Stern shot himself at a Los Angeles shooting range, and now, speculation is growing over whether or not her recent outings with Leonardo DiCaprio and Adrian Grenier were the cause. In response, she has issued a statement via her rep.

“On Sunday, June 22, Andrew Stern, husband of Katie Cleary, committed suicide at a shooting range in the San Fernando Valley,” Cleary’s rep, Ben Decker, revealed to PEOPLE Magazine on June 24. “Andrew and Katie have been in the midst of a very amicable separation and had remained on excellent terms. This is devastating news for us but we have been aware of Andrew’s longtime struggle with depression.”

Last month, Cleary, a former contestant on America’s Next Top Model and Deal Or No Deal personality, was spotted with hanging with DiCaprio at a Cannes nightclub. In photos of the pair, DiCaprio is seen nearly cheek-to-cheek with Cleary, who was all smiles. After the photos hit the web, Cleary denied any romantic link to DiCaprio and claimed they didn’t know each other prior to their Cannes meeting. She also insisted their only reason for being together was for a possible collaboration “for environmental and animal welfare issues.”

As for her relationship with Grenier, Cleary and the actor were seen on what appeared to be a dinner date in Cannes, also last month, but her rep stated they were just friends and had been “for a while.”

Despite Cleary’s rep’s denials, a TMZ source claims Stern’s friends feel differently.

“They say Andrew still loved Katie but filed for divorce because she was humiliating him by globetrotting and hobnobbing with celebs,” TMZ reported on June 24.

Cleary and Stern married in July 2010 and separated eight months ago. According to TMZ, Stern filed for divorce from Cleary in April.

A public memorial service for Stern is scheduled for this Saturday.
