Sonja Morgan wants fans to know she is not broke.

In a new interview, the Real Housewives of New York City star opened up about her financial troubles, admitting that while she may have filed for bankruptcy, things aren't nearly as bad as her co-stars are making it seem.

"Broke as a joke?! I am in a Chapter 11 reorganization, I am not in a Chapter 7 which is a liquidation,” Morgan explained in her July 8 interview with Radar Online. “To say I am broke while I am working and my daughter [Quincy, 13] is thriving under such immense pressure is unfair.”

In mid-June, Morgan sold her St. Tropez home for $5.7 million, $2 million less than she had listed the French villa, in an effort to settle a portion of the $7 million debt she incrued after a failed movie project with Hannibal Pictures, which was supposed to feature John Travolta.

Morgan also has her Manhattan townhouse on the market for $8.25 million, much lower than its original listing price of $12 million, as well as a Colorado home that is listed for $7.95 million.

On The Real Housewives of New York City, Morgan has had no problems with exposing her financial issues, but now feels that her co-stars have exploited and exaggerated the situation.

“My co-stars this last season have added insult to injury by exploiting words such as ‘bankruptcy’ and ‘bank’ when there are no banks involved in my case,” Morgan added. “I own my properties free and clear. I did always plan to sell my house in France if needed, as Heather [Thompson] and Ramona [Singer] both knew.”

The Real Housewives of New York City airs on Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. on Bravo.
