Emily Blunt during Tuesday's edition of The Late Show with David Letterman revealed: "We were rehearsing a scene where she's playing the Witch and she's supposed to jump on the table with a cape and everything. And I just saw this thing happen in slow motion. You know when you see something awful happen and it's like the sound cuts out? Meryl Streep's foot got caught in her cape and we just slowly stared to watch her topple head first towards the concrete floor. I caught her! She owes me! She owes me, big time."

The 31-year-old Blunt was at the David Letterman show to promote her latest upcoming movie with the 65-year-old Streep - Into the Woods, a Walt Disney film adaptation of the Tony award-winning Broadway musical of the same name by Stephen Sondheim and James Lapine. Directed by Rob Marshall from a screenplay by Lapine, it boasts of a huge ensemble cast of today's finest actors portraying characters from the Brothers Grimm fairy tales. James Corden plays the Baker with Emily Blunt as his Wife. Meryl Streep is cast as the Witch, Anna Kendrick as Cinderella, Chris Pine as Cinderella's Prince, Johnny Depp as the Wolf, Lilla Crawford as Little Red Riding Hood, Daniel Huttlestone as Jack, Tracy Ullman as Jack's Mother, Christine Baranski as Cinderella's Stepmother, Mackenzie Mauzy as Rapunzel, Billy Magnussen as Rapunzel's Prince, Tammy Blanchard as Cinderella's stepsister Florinda, Lucy Punch as Cinderella's stepsister Lucinda, Richard Glover as the Steward, Frances de la Tour as the Giant's Wife, Simon Russel Beale as the Baker's father, Joanna Riding as Cinderella's mother, and Annette Crosby as Little Red Riding Hood's Grandmother.

Into the Woods, which will be seen in theaters beginning December 25, marks the second time that Blunt and Streep co-starred in a movie together. They both previously appeared in 2006's The Devil Wears Prada. At the David Letterman show, Blunt even joked: "Yeah, she tormented me in that [Devil Wears Prada] and now she's tormenting me in this movie. She's the Witch that has cast a horrible spell on our house. So I just said this is it we couldn't have any other dynamic now. You just have to hate me."

Blunt told Letterman that Streep is "so amazing it's, like, annoying at this point." She also said that even if she had not "saved" her, the screen legend "could've been injured [but] I don't think she would've died because she's not supposed to ever die."
