The mid-season 4 finale of the hit series Revenge has finally concluded the life of one of its characters! Continue on reading to find out more on what has happened in the episode and why this character's death should not have been that shocking.

The show's mid-season 4 finale, entitled "Atonement," was not exactly packed with so much action (aside from the brief scuffle between Emily and Kate), but it did justify its own roller coaster ride moments. The show has long been promoting foreshadowing of an impending character's death in the show, with promo taglines such as "Who will be next?" or if that is not explicit enough, "No one does death better than Revenge."

In the previous episode, it was revealed that Margaux was pregnant with Daniel's child, and it was since then speculated that one of these two is going to die in the show. Indeed, it is none other than Daniel Grayson who died in the finale in Emily's arms.

As already mentioned, this was not at all that surprising, unless you have been completely missing out on how mid-season, season and series finales work. Daniel's death was actually foreseen the moment we are shown of the first flashback between him and Conrad. Although there was also a possibility of Margaux being the one to get killed instead, it was Daniel's that became much more apparent as the episode progressed (e.g. the guy was reminiscing alone on the beach at night! That is foreshadowing right there, alright.)

What was good about the ending was that Emily and Daniel at least got some slight closure between them, with Emily telling him that relationship was not all a lie, and Daniel simply responded with, "I know." And of course, his last words:

"There is no such thing as destiny. Legacies must be earned by the choices we make. I now know that we write our own endings and we can either choose to hide as villains or live as heroes."

Hopefully there would not be any more tragic deaths in the coming episodes. But either way, there sure are much more anticipation in the show than ever. Tune in to Us Weekly for more recaps and episode reviews!
