Chrissy Metz is “scared out of her mind” with the American Horror Story: Freak Show

Fans unanimously were spooked by the new season of the American Horror Story: Freak Show. Even stars of the show were scared to wits, especially Chrissy Metz. She admitted this week that she is "scared out of her mind" by the FX drama.

Barbara "Ima" Wiggles, is the character played by Metz. She recalled that she had watched the first and second season of the TV show with her bestfriend last Christmas, and she shares what happened to US weekly, "I was like, 'If I am ever on this show, I will be scared out of my mind, I definitely watched it through my fingers because I'm scared out of my mind about it."

Asylum was "super scary," she added, as are the opening credits of Freak Show. "That's enough to not even make me want to watch it," she said, referring the creepy carnival-themed montage of killer clowns and animated dolls. "I had to really separate it. I was like, 'Chrissy, this isn't real. This blood and all this stuff, it's not real. Because I really feel invested."

Metz also added that apart from the blood and guts, what's even more traumatizing is the conniving nature of so many of the characters. The fact that two veteran and Academy Award winners are part of the show, Kathy Bates and Jessica Lange, is something that is hard to isolate when the characters they play is brought to life by these respected movie icons.

Metz admires Sarah Paulson and Bates so much and can't believe that she is actually working with them. She needed to remind herself always that she is part of the show and not watching the show.

Interestingly, her character Ima, is hinted to develop a dynamism with Evan Peter's alter-ego. Peters, in real life is engaged to Julia Roberts' niece, Emma Roberts. Metz even joked that there might be a making out scene between her character and Peters and she said it will kind of awkward seeing Roberts behind the camera.
