Ashlee Simpson, 30, and husband Evan Ross, 26, who are expecting their first child together have filed a request before a judge to change their last names to 'Ross-Naess,' which incorporates both the last names of Evan's mother, the legendary singer Diana Ross, with that of his late father Arne Naess Jr, who passed away in 2004.

While Evan has been using Ross as his last name in his professional showbiz career, the Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 actor is still legally named Evan Olav Naes in his birth certificate.

The couple, shortly following their marriage at Diana Ross's estate in Greenwich, Connecticut, on August 31, simply wants to make sure that their forthcoming children will have some visible official connection with their world-famous paternal grandmother. According to TMZ, their petition may be approved by the judge by the end of this month.

Evan in an interview with US Weekly back in November said: "I would love to [have kids with Ashlee], as many as possible," adding, "I've been with her now for a while so it just feels right. I'm happy to say she's my wife." He also reiterated to E!News in a separate interview, "We're working on it [having a baby]. I would like it. As many as possible!" Presently, Evan is already stepfather to six-year-old Bronx Mowgli, Ashlee's son from her previous marriage to musician Pete Wentz.

So far, this has been a great year for the young couple. They are expecting their first child and Evan is doing very well in his career. He has just released a new music video,How to Live Alone, wherein his wife and his mother both made special appearances. He will also be seen in the second and final installment of the Hunger Games: Mockingjay film series which will be released on November 20, 2015. Then he will begin working on Skate God, a science-fiction film which is scheduled for showing in theaters on June 19, 2015.
