Though twelve years have passed since Ethan Hawke was critically acclaimed for his role as a Best Supporting Actor in the film Training Day, he is up for another one for Boyhood.

The film was collaborated on by the actor and director Richard Linklater where it was shot in real time.

His recent appearance in the Golden Globes marks his first appearance for the Awards Show where he was nominated for the Best Actor Award and that his film, Boyhood was nominated for Best Picture. "I've never been invited, so for me it's kind of awesome. With the things I have done before, they never clocked me. Not with the success around Training Day or Before Midnight, all the things I have done. I am just happy to be invited," USA Today quotes the actor.

When it came to awards, Hawke realized on how the recognition becomes more coveted when one grows older. According to the actor, his co-star from Training Day shared this eye opening insight. USA Today quotes, "I remember Denzel (Washington) told me that you never want to win these things until you're older. You realize how rare it is to have a great experience. This isn't a movie to me. It's connected to a life's work that I've been doing with Rick. It means a lot to me. It's easy when you're young to be cynical about anything. As you live longer, you realize that being invited to this party means a lot to me."

The actor also shared that his part in the film was based on his own real life experiences, where he was questioned by his children. "They don't remember a time period in my life where I wasn't working on Boyhood. "'Did you have to put that in, Dad?' - they said that about so many things that if I talk about them in a newspaper I'll get in trouble again," quotes Standard.

Though he did not win the Best Supporting Actor Award, he is still tipped for an Oscar.
