Fox's new series, "Backstrom" could prove to be a misfit in their premiere season. There could be various reasons as to why some plots do not do well enough, and there are plenty of examples where a terrible episode gets created. Will the plot work for the season?  This is what we will find out with the new series next week.

"Backstrom" has been created by Hart Hanson and stars Rainn Wilson as Everett Backstrom. The plot is about a highly cynical detective and his adventures, which keep him involved in different activities that are destructive to himself. It is unreal to see how the brilliant detective can get into the minds of the people he's looking for.

Everett Backstrom, Oregon police detective, is a self-destructive package as well as very rude and crude. In short, he has not been able to check "Backstrom" from getting into a mess.

"Backstrom" premieres at 9 p.m on Jan. 22 and is loosely based on the novel series by Swedish author and criminologist Persson. The audiences won't find much likeable about the offensive and alcoholic Backstrom, who is also selfish and lazy.

Well, one can make the detective an all-out quirky if they want, but the rule has been that you have to give the viewers something to root for, and it takes a lot more to hold the interest of the viewers week after week and year after year. They are looking for some humane behavior under all that aggressively repugnant behavior. The executive producer is looking around to find a home for "Backstrom." It is said to have "House" overtures and may well turn out to be the most cynical show on the idiot box.
