Lindsay Lohan, 28, was ordered Wednesday by a Los Angeles Superior Court judge to perform 125 additional hours of community service as part of her probation. She was given until May 28 to complete the additional community service hours of her sentence for her involvement in a 2012 auto accident according to her lawyer Shawn Holley.

In June 2012, Lohan crashed her Porsche sports car into a dump truck in the seaside town of Santa Monica while driving to the set of the Lifetime TV movie Liz & Dick. She later lied to police. In March 2013, she pled no contest to misdemeanor charges stemming from the accident; reckless driving and providing false information to a police officer. She was sentenced to 240 hours of community service, psychotherapy and lockdown rehabilitation. Her probation in connection with her previous arrest for drunk driving and theft was also extended for another two years.

The decision to require additional hours of community service from Lohan was made behind closed doors. The judge, the Hon. Mark Young, made a brief announcement in court following his decision. Another proceeding will be held March 12 to decide how Lohan can complete the community service in an acceptable way.

Following Wednesday's court ruling, Santa Monica Chief Deputy City Attorney Terry White told People: "I agree with [the court's decision]. There were things she did that didn't qualify as community service. She got to shake hands with people, and that's community service. I'd love to hang out with a celebrity all day and see their life, but that's not community service."

As for Lohan's attorney, Holley told LA Times that the court and prosecutors "had a problem with some of the work shadowing. They didn't want to hear more about how that played out." Previously, Lohan had young people "shadow" her while she was in London working on a play and had it logged on as "community service." In any event, said Holley, her client "doesn't have a problem" with the extra hours of court-ordered community service hours, adding that "s he's enjoying doing community service. Her passion is really working with kids ... and kids really respond to her."
