Car manufacturer Toyota is said to be recalling cars and SUVs in order to correct the problem they are currently facing regarding the software for the electric vehicles and its power steering.

The number totaled to 112,500 including midsize 2015 Camry, Camry Hybrid and Highlander and Highlander Hybrid SUVs.  Some of the recalls carry the 2014 and 2015 RAV4 SUVs which was announced just last Wednesday in Detroit.

According to a Toyota spokesperson, the reason for the recall may have been a damaged circuit board located in the electric power steering wheel.  It may have happened in the factory while the parts are being assembled.

Fixing the problem is of utmost goal so as to prevent crashes and accidents due to the failing of power-assisted steering.  Each and every car recalled is being thoroughly inspected and checked and to pinpoint if it is indeed the software or the power steering controls.

Dealers are also required to check and inspect the cars involved and if needed, should replace the damaged power steering controls.

Toyota also reported that for the electric vehicle RAV4s manufactured from 2012 to 2014 were also recalled.  The problem is the software in the assembly of the motor which is a part of the engine's propulsion system which enables the electric vehicles to automatically shift to neutral.  This increases the risk of an accident if it happens.  With this, dealers are again required to check and fix the problem with the assembly of the motor.

As of this writing, Toyota has not received any report of injuries caused by the problem or crashes due to the malfunction of the power steering wheel.
