News about Apple trying to produce an online TV has been on for a while. It seems their plans are finally getting some weight.

Apple seems to be making efforts to release a small package of close to 25 channels through streaming online TV. The primary channels would include ABC, CBS and Fox, it is being speculated. The channels will be viewable through Apple devices like Apple TV and even iOS devices. There is no news about NBCUniversal being involved in the process though.

Reports suggest that there were talks between Apple and NBCUniversal earlier in 2014 of producing the online TV. The online TV would merge Apple's user interface and Comcast's broadband delivery strength.  However, there was some row between the two companies with Apple suspecting Comcast of focusing on their X1 Web-enabled set-top box.

Some experts think that it would be hard for Apple to complete the online TV project by itself. But Apple has spared no effort and is discussing the matter with other media giants like Disney, 21st Century Fox and CBS.

Apple plans to provide a concise service of popular channels for its online-TV. It would corner out the smaller channels for the cable and anchor the online streamer with the more watched channels like CBS, ESPN and others.

News has also surfaced about channels like Discovery and Viacom offering to enter the channel ring of Apple TV. This would be a major accomplishment for the tech company as the two media companies have a host of popular channels.

The online subscription is speculated to be charged at $30 to $40 a month. The service is being expected to be launched later this year.
