Kelly Oxford's pitch for All the Way, described only as "a female-driven sex comedy set in high school," has been purchased by Sony Pictures. Oxford will be writing the script for the movie with Point Grey Pictures, the production company of Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg and James Weaver, handling production. Point Grey's executive Alex McAtee will be overseeing the project for the company according to The Wrap.

Oxford, a Canadian suburban stay-at-home mother of three, has already previously written a pilot for NBC and sold a comedy script to Warner Bros. Her first book, a collection of essays titled "Everything Is Perfect When You're a Liar," easily rose to become a New York Times bestseller. Considered a social media royalty, her 615,000-strong Twitter followers include award-winning screenwriters Jhoni Marchinko and Diablo Cody, the late film critic Roger Ebert, singer-songwriter John Meyer, and late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel.

Kimmel, who became a close friend of Oxford after following her on Twitter, told L.A. Times: "She's just funny, very consistently and solidly hilarious. It's heartening to know that somebody with nothing other than the quality of their tweets can become very popular and actually make a living as a result of it. It's like Twitter was invented for Kelly Oxford."

Cody, who also became Oxford's close friend and confidant, added: "As someone who came from the Internet myself, I don't know why anyone wouldn't. Self-publishing is fantastic. You don't have to deal with anybody. There are no rejection letters. You just find your audience. Plus, you get instantaneous feedback."

As Oxford observed, "Twitter is like the back page of Tiger Beat, where you found celebrities' addresses and you could write them a letter. On Twitter, all the celebrities and producers and writers and directors were there. You didn't have to write them, but you could see what they were thinking about. It was suddenly an even playing field."
