Fans are already hoping for "Mr. Robot" Season 3 to premiere this summer. However, it looks like the USA Network series will be on hiatus until late 2017. After all, Rami Malek has just completed work on the remake of the Steve McQueen film "Papillion", which will also star "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" actor Charlie Hunnam.

"Mr. Robot" has already been confirmed for a third season while Season 2 was still on air. However, Sam Esmail has also made it clear that the next chapter of Elliot's story will not premiere in summer. The "Mr. Robot" Season 3 creator told Entertainment Weekly that he wouldn't sacrifice "the quality of the show" just so it could be return "at a certain schedule." So does this mean the series is set for a fall debut? It seems likely, since lead star Rami Malek has just finished working with Charlie Hunnam on the "Papillion" reboot.

ScreenDaily has previously confirmed that Rami Malek and Charlie Hunnam have wrapped on "Papillion", which has filmed in Serbia, Montenegro and Malta. The two are certainly enjoying their downtime, but were happy to be reunited when Malek attended the premiere of Hunnam's film "The Lost City of Z" last month (via Twitter). There is a possibility that the "Mr. Robot" Season 3 star will take a breather before resuming work on the USA Network series.

There is little doubt that Sam Esmail and Rami Malek will try not to rush into production for "Mr. Robot" Season 3. It is possible that the series will start filming in mid-2017 and eventually premiere in fall. Keep checking CeleBeat for more updates on your favorite TV shows.
