Momoa was reported to have been selected to play Aquaman in June 2014. He was confirmed as the cast for Aquaman four months later along with Ray Fisher and Ezra Miller as Cyborg and The Flash.

Aquaman made his first appearance in the "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice" along with Wonder Woman, The Flash, and Cyborg. Those superheroes will establish a group with Superman and Batman and called themselves the Justice League.
