There is little doubt that "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" will be introducing new characters who will change things up for Star-Lord and the gang. Fans have already gotten brief glimpses at Mantis, Ayesha and, most recently, Ego the Living Planet as they would appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe flick. However, Sylvester Stallone's role in the sequel is still shrouded in mystery. Will he play a possible new ally or another villain who is out to get the Guardians? Director James Gunn has offered a few hints on who the veteran actor will portray in the MCU film.

James Gunn was recently a guest on "The Adam Carolla Show", where he spoke about his films "The Belko Experiment" and "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2". In the interview, the director revealed there are "a couple of characters who are very important to the Marvel Universe" who will be introduced in "GotGV2". Interestingly, Gunn admitted that Sylvester Stallone will portray "one of these characters" and that he will somehow connected to Michael Rosenbaum.

So what does this reveal about Sylvester Stallone's character in "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2"? There are several theories especially if he will be working alongside Michael Rosenbaum. Some speculate that the "Smallville" star will portray Adam Warlock and Stallone could appear as one of Him's allies. If this is true, there is a huge possibility that Rosenbaum and Stallone will appear in more MCU flicks, as per ComicBookMovie.

It is important to point out that the roles of Sylvester Stallone and Michael Rosenbaum have not yet been confirmed. In line with this, all details must be taken with a grain of salt. "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2" also stars Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan and Michael Rooker. The film will premiere on May 5, as per YouTube.
