Katheryn Winnick is keeping her followers updated on social media as she recently shared a behind-the-scenes photo of her well-loved character, Lagertha, from History Channel’s “Vikings.” In the midst of all the speculations for “Vikings” season 5, rumors of Lagertha becoming one of the main rulers for the upcoming installment have been on the rise.

While fans remain unsure as to what “Vikings” season 5 will become after the death of lead character Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), series creator Michael Hirst told Variety that much of the storyline focuses on moving on. "Honestly, I think people did think when Travis died everything would change and yet on we went, the machine went on, we had so many great new actors,” Hirst explained.

He also shared how he remains certain that, despite the absence of the fan-favorite Ragnar Lothbrok, “Vikings” season 5 will not be the show’s final installment. "I could tell you things that would blow your mind — things we've shot in Season 5 are amazing. I think we will be able to end the show the way we intended to," Hirst added.

“Vikings” season 5 is set to delve into more details about new character Heahmund, played by Jonathan Rhys Meyers, who was introduced in the season 4 finale. As a warrior bishop, the character will be set against Alex Høgh’s Ivar the Boneless. As one of the pioneering members of the Knights Templar, Heahmund is a pious bishop but is known to be mad and violent when at war.

"They were very clever, very well-educated, but they were warriors, they would go into battle against spiritual opponents, like pagans," Hirst shared to Screener TV, referring to Heahmund’s group that will be featured more in “Vikings” season 5.

Meanwhile, other longtime characters who have been missing in action since the last season’s remaining episodes will make a well-deserved comeback. Ragnar’s brother, Rollo, played by Clive Standen will be back in “Vikings” season 5. He was last featured when he went on a Mediterranean mission alongside his nephew, Bjorn (Alexander Ludwig).

Longtime character Floki (Gustaf Skarsgård), whose life will be completely changed as he commits to the gods, will also be featured regularly in the new installment. “Vikings” season 5 is set to return later this year on History. A premiere date is yet to be announced.
