'Pacific Rim: Uprising' Has Wrapped Up Filming; Actor John Boyega Shares His Feeling to Play in the Guillermo del Toro Film

"Pacific Rim: Uprising" is the official title of the former "Pacific Rim: Maelstrom" and has finished its filming last Tuesday. One of the lead actor John Boyega shared his amazement to join the sequel to the 2013 film directed and produced by Guillermo del Toro.

In the sequel del Toro returns to produce the "Pacific Rim: Uprising" but he gave the directing role to the creator of Starz hits series "Spartacus" Steven S. DeKnight. The principal photography began last November in Australia, followed by the filming process that began March 8 at the Wanda's Qingdao Movie Metropolis facility in China. Last Tuesday, March 28 the filming has finished and Boyega took to Twitter to express his amazement as reported by Entertainment Weekly.

"It's been an amazing six months! That's a wrap on #PacificRimUprising," he tweeted and shared his picture as he walked down the hill at the filming location in Qingdao, Shandong province. The "Star Wars" star plays as the son of Idris Elba's character Stacker Pentecost in the "Pacific Rim: Uprising" who piloted the Jaeger with his partner Nate Lambert, played by Scott Eastwood, the son of renown filmmaker and actor Clint Eastwood.

Prior to the filming of "Pacific Rim: Uprising", the crews and cast members were invited to attend the traditional Chinese ceremony as reported by Comic Book. The movie is produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Universal Pictures in the United States, while international distribution is handled by Warner Brothers. Legendary Pictures is the subsidiary of Dalian Wanda, that own the 400-acre movie facilities in Shindong province, in the eastern China.

Two of the stars in the first movie Charlie Hunnam and Idris Elba did not take part in the "Pacific Rim: Uprising." Only Rinko Kikuchi, Charlie Day and Burn Gorman return to the movie. Kikuchi reprises her role as Jaeger pilot Mako Mori, while Day and Burn play as Dr. Newt Geiszler and Dr. Hermann Gottlieb respectively.
