'Riverdale' Season 2 Introduces Molly Ringwald as Archie's Mom; Crossover with Teenage Witch Sabrina Possible

Molly Ringwald who plays Archie's mom will become one of the main characters in the series. Her future role was explained during the WonderCon panel on Friday, March 31. There will also be a possibility of the crossover with Sabrina the teenage witch in the "Riverdale" Season 2

The cast members who participated in the panel as reported by Los Angeles Times are KJ Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Ashleigh Murray, Marisol Nichols, Mädchen Amick and Luke Perry. While from the production team are three executive producers Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, Jon Goldwater and Sarah Schechter. They shared a teaser for the "Riverdale" Season 2.

Prior to the panel discussion, the audience were shown the five-minute-clip and a teaser. The reel ended with the teaser, showing the reunion between Archie and his mother. She will take more role in the "Riverdale" Season 2, and Ringwald will play Mary Andrews, Archie's mother who will appear in the Season Finale of the Season 1, aired on April 13.

The fans that packed the Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center were cheering up as Mary appeared in the last scene of the clip as reported by Entertainment Tonight. Mary will become one of the central characters in "Riverdale" Season 2. She made her first appearance in the season finale by smiling and called her son Archie, "Hi honey."

"Riverdale" Season 2 will also possibly have the appearance of Sabrina, a teenage witch. The "Afterlife with Archie" comics will be the right episode to make a crossover with Sabrina. The series was adapted from the Archie Comics' character Archie Andrews and his life in the city of Riverdale. Other notable characters are Archie's love interest Betty Cooper, Jughead Jones, Veronica Lodge and Sabrina Spellman.

Mary, Archie's mother was away for two years to pursue her dream. Afterward, she decided to come back to Riverdale and reunited with her husband Fred and son Archie. She will also meet her old time friend Hermione and Alice in the "Riverdale" Season 2. Watch the appearance of Mary in the clip played at the WonderCon below:
