Terminator: Genisys was given an official release date of July 1, 2015 earlier this Summer and now the first official trailer has been released for the highly anticipated movie. Arnold Schwarzenegger does make an appearance in the trailer as well, check it out above.

There are some throwback images in the trailer from other Terminator movies, we see a liquid Terminator, which is from Terminator 2: Judgment Day, nuclear missiles flying in the air, which was seen in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, as well as a time machine, which is central to the plot of Genisys.

Premise: The year is 2029. John Connor, leader of the resistance continues the war against the machines. At the Los Angeles offensive, John's fears of the unknown future begin to emerge when TECOM spies reveal a new plot by SkyNet that will attack him from both fronts; past and future, and will ultimately change warfare forever.

On the verge of winning the war against Skynet, Connor sends his trusted lieutenant Kyle Reese back through time to save his mother's life and ensure his own existence. But what he finds on the other side is like nothing he ever expected. After being orphaned at age 9 by a Terminator, Sarah Connor has since been brought up by another Terminator, played by Schwarzenegger, programmed to protect her. This Terminator has then trained her to face her destiny, which she adamantly tries to reject.

The franchise reveal earlier this Summer that two more sequels are in the works and already have release dates as well. The second film is set to release on May 19, 2017 and the third film on June 29, 2018.

Along with Schwarzenegger, the cast includes Emilia Clarke ("Game of Thrones"), Jason Clarke, Jai Courtney, Matt Smith, Dayo Okeniyi, Byung-hun Lee and J.K. Simmons. Schwarzenegger will be the only star of the original movie to return. The movie was directed by Alan Taylor (Thor: The Dark World) and written by Laeta Kalogridis and Patrick Lussier.
